Senior Manager, External Communications - Lonza Capsugel

Location: Morristown, NJ

Shape how the world sees Lonza's Capsugel business by leading external communications, media relations, and PR strategy. This role offers the opportunity to craft influential narratives, elevate brand visibility, and partner with senior leadership to drive impactful storytelling across global audiences.

The full-time base annual salary for this position is expected to range between $104,000 - $148,050. In addition, below you will find a comprehensive summary of the benefits package we offer:

What you will do

  • Lead proactive external communications and media relations initiatives to position Lonza Capsugel as a trusted, authoritative voice in the industry.
  • Build strong relationships with key media, influencers, and senior internal stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Develop and drive PR campaigns supporting product launches, thought leadership, strategic storytelling, and brand visibility.
  • Produce high-quality written content including press releases, articles, blogs, and external communication materials.
  • Create and maintain internal newsletters to inform, engage, and spotlight achievements across global marketing teams.
  • Conduct research and translate complex technical and scientific insights into compelling and accessible narratives.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans, serving as the primary media liaison during sensitive or high-impact events.

What we are looking for

  • 5-10 years of professional experience in life sciences-related industries (Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, or similar).
  • Proven experience in external communications, PR, and media relations, with strong B2B and corporate communications exposure.
  • Exceptional copywriting, editing, research, and content development skills, with demonstrated ability to simplify complex technical topics for external audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and confidence engaging with senior leaders and external media.
  • Experience planning and executing PR campaigns and securing proactive media coverage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and strong problemsolving capability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Must reside within commuting distance of a CHI site: Tampa, FL; Greenwood, SC; Morristown, NJ; or Cohasset, MN.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
