GWA is an independent, Pre-K-12, independent, college-preparatory school located on 61 beautiful acres in Monroe, Georgia, less than one hour from the state capitol of Atlanta. George Walton Academy seeks an engaging, energetic Long-Term Substitute Math teacher (High School Geometry) for the 2026-2027 school year. The estimated dates for this position will be September 21 – November 18, however, the flexibility to work from September 1 through November 30 is preferred.ResponsibilitiesTeach six classes and possess the ability and skills to successfully teach Geometry to High School studentsPlan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiencesCreate and sustain a positive classroom culture, based on the mission and values of the schoolObserve/evaluate/assess students' development and maintain accurate records regarding student progress and areas of growthEnrich or modify lessons, curriculum, materials and resources as needed to meet differentiated student needs and varying levels of progress inside and outside of the classroomCommunicate openly, timely and supportively with students, staff, parents and other stakeholders regarding student achievement and progress Exceptional Candidates WillDemonstrate an approachable, consistent, transparent, supportive and good-humored postureCommunicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues and individuals inside and outside the schoolBe patient and positive and find joy in the journey of promoting a lifelong love of learningPossess a philosophy of education that aligns with the school's mission and vision QualificationsBachelor's degree required; Master's Degree preferred3+ years of high school (or similar) teaching experience, preferably in Math within independent schoolsExperience with a broad range of instructional practicesCriminal background check
