Teacher - HS Math, Long-term Substitute

Position Summary 

Position Overview The High School teacher creates and maintains an effective learning environment for their students. The teacher knows, assimilates, and fully practices the ideals, principles, and teaching methodology of the school. The teacher carries out their work professionally and with a spirit of initiative, creating an environment of confidence and respect. The High School teacher fosters a love for the truth, and a love for learning, and works to effectively carry out the mission of forming Christian servant leaders. 

Reporting Structure High School Teachers report to their respective Department Chairs 

Qualifications High School Teachers should meet the following qualifications: 

Education: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education or subject taught (Master's preferred) 

Professional License in Education 

Specific Responsibilities 

The specific responsibilities of the High School Teacher include, but are not limited to, the following: 

? Plan and carry out lessons in subject taught 

? Select and use a variety of learning resources and technology to effectively reach all students 

? Implement differentiated instruction techniques to meet the diverse needs of students 

? Develop and maintain curriculum map and submit all lesson plans to department chair as directed 

? Assess students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses 

? Assess student work and give timely and appropriate feedback; 

? Communicate areas of student concern to parents in a timely manner 

? Maintain regular and professional communication with parents concerning student academic progress 

? Communicate areas of concern to department chair in a timely manner 

? Teach students as an entire class or in small groups 

? Communicate with parents about students' progress 

? Work with individual students to challenge them, to improve their abilities, and to work on their weaknesses 

? Prepare students for standardized tests required by the state 

? Develop and enforce classroom rules 

? Maintain an effective and formative classroom environment according to school guidelines using appropriate classroom management techniques 

? Monitor environment to ensure that it remains clean, safe, and in good condition 

? Supervise students outside of the classroom-for example, at lunchtime or during detention 

? Assist in the preparation and coordination of school celebrations, activities, academic contests, and formation programs 

? Work directly with department chair and high school administration to implement a positive school culture and carry out the mission of forming Christian servant leaders 

? Effectively carry out assigned extra duties 

? Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with students 

To perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Principal of the school.
