Job description

Base Salary with bonus potential.
Purpose:
Logistics Customer Service Rep supports the profitable growth for Marten Transport Logistics, LLC.
Responsibilities:
1. Drive daily and weekly load count, revenue and margin goals for a specific region.
2. Develop current carrier base for consistent lane specific volumes.
3. Negotiate pricing and solicit business from our existing customers to secure freight for our contracted carriers.
4. Work directly with sales and management to assist in developing pricing for larger customers.
5. Monitor EDI system for available freight. Make sure correct reason codes are included on all rejected shipments.
6. Act as a mentor for new employees and assist in training as needed.
7. Identify new traffic lanes for potential growth.
8. Verify all carriers used meet Marten Transport Logistics, LLC safety standards.
9. Meet departmental and personal profit margin goals.
10. Travel up to 10% of scheduled time throughout the year.
11. Work independently and as a cohesive member of a team to maximize Marten Transport Logistics, LLC profitability.
12. Other duties as assigned by authorized personnel.
Abilities/ Skills Required:
Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong organizational ability, detail oriented, ability to handle a fast pace work environment. Ability to solve problems efficiently and remain calm under pressure. Self motivated, with negotiation skills. Computer experience necessary: Windows and Excel or similar programs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity for data entry, stooping, bending for filing, good listening and speaking ability.
Education / Training Required:
College degree preferred along with previous experience in sales/ marketing. Previous experience in trucking industry a plus.
