Job description

The Freight/Logistics Coordinator responsible for managing and coordinating shipments across multiple transportation modes including truckload, LTL, rail, and intermodal. Ensures freight moves efficiently, cost-effectively, and on schedule while maintaining strong communication with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams. Supports overall supply chain performance by overseeing shipment logistics, maintaining compliance documentation, resolving transportation issues, and identifying opportunities to improve logistics efficiency.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and monitor freight shipments across truckload, LTL, rail, and intermodal transportation modes.
  • Secure carriers, schedule pickups, and track shipments through final delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between customers, warehouses, suppliers, and transportation carriers.
  • Provide shipment updates and proactively resolve in-transit issues to maintain delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and rail/intermodal partners to ensure timely and compliant shipments.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal departments to align shipping schedules with production and customer requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain shipping documentation including bills of lading, invoices, and customs documentation.
  • Ensure shipments comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Maintain organized records for reporting, auditing, and logistics tracking.
  • Troubleshoot logistics issues such as delays, freight damage, or documentation discrepancies.
  • Analyze logistics performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
  • Support freight rate evaluations and assist with carrier or vendor negotiations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong understanding of transportation methods including LTL, FTL, rail (short line and Class I), and intermodal shipping.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Sage or similar) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with customs or export documentation preferred.
  • Experience with freight rate analysis, carrier coordination, and logistics reporting tools is a plus.
  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on optimizing logistics processes.

Education | Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or a related supply chain role.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with domestic and international shipping processes.
