This is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work. Associates are required to work at least three days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.

BASIC PURPOSE

The Senior Applications Engineer will work directly with IT Department to design SEWS next-generation supply chain systems architecture with particular focus on global finished goods operations. This role is critical to transitioning from legacy, in-house systems to SaaS cloud systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

This role will ensure seamless integration between existing internal systems and new cloud-based platforms, including orchestration layers, TMS, and ERP solutions. The applications engineer will enable connectivity across production planning, in-transit logistics tracking, warehouse management, and customer order/forecast systems (EDI), driving efficiency, visibility, and responsiveness across the global supply chain.

BASIC POSITION DUTIES
  • Work with IT Department to design the future systems architecture for global finished goods supply chain transformation, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and long-term sustainability.
  • Design and implement integration solutions connecting legacy in-house systems with modern SaaS platforms and orchestration layers.
  • Develop API-based and event-driven solutions to enable real-time data exchange across production planning, logistics tracking, warehouse operations, and customer ordering systems.
  • Partner with business stakeholders (Production Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Warehouse, Delivery, and IT Department) to translate operational requirements into technical system capabilities.
  • Establish data governance and system reliability standards, ensuring data accuracy, system uptime, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system integration issues, providing ongoing support and continuous improvement of application performance.
  • Lead and mentor internal teams and external partners, building organizational capability in modern system architecture and integration best practices.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related field
  • 7-10 years’ experience in system application engineering, integration or enterprise architecture
  • Experience working with automotive or complex manufacturing supply chains
  • Strong knowledge of system integration methods (APIs, Webhooks, event-driven architecture)
  • Familiarity with supply chain systems: Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Production Planning, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation/Logistics systems (TMS), EDI and customer forecast/order integration.
  • Experience with hybrid system environments (cloud-based SaaS platforms and on-premises systems)
  • Experience transitioning or modernizing legacy systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to translate business needs into system solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate across global and cross-functional teams

Benefits include competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, 401(k) with match, tuition benefits, paid holidays and vacation.
