Position Summary:
The Router position is an individual contributor role responsible for creating routes, managing routes, calculating delivery routes, times of deliveries and makes the necessary adjustments for drivers and customers. The Router role reports to the Transportation Manager or Routing Supervisor and normally works a Sunday through Thursday shift. The Router role works with numerous routing and software systems. The Router role requires strong attention to detail and process skills. The Router may interact with drivers, sales, transportation, warehouse and customer service personnel at management discretion. The Router functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duties assigned to best serve the company.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while still maintaining an acceptable level of customer service, quality and satisfaction. Utilize Roadnet application to ensure Delivery costs are held to company expected run rates year over year.
  • Establish routing procedures and schedules which allow for the optimum use of personnel and equipment while keeping a strong emphasis on driver safety.
  • Perform Roadnet application routing maintenance daily to ensure all locations have accurate, timely, and up-to-date information: Standard Routes and Customer Delivery Requirements, Geo-Coding, delivery days, time windows, service time types, service time overrides, account types, meal beaks, Route start times, pre/post trips, starting/ending depot, travel modes, color for mapping, assigned driver, equipment and DOT road checks, Plan Maintanence equipment with regards to costing, restrictions and capacities.
  • Perform and provide costing, off-days, maintenance, scorecard, customer and KPI reporting on scheduled intervals.
  • Perform recap of previous days actual routing results; make necessary changes/adjustments to the standard routes, if required.
  • Make maps and print driving instructions for drivers that are not familiar with the route assigned.
  • Produce driver manifest report and distribute nightly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

1-3 years distribution, logistics, transportation or related work experience.
Basic/Intermediate computer skills including various software applications and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

3 - 5 years distribution, logistics, transportation routing and/or related administrative experience
Intermediate/Advanced computer skills including routing software applications (Roadnet, AS400) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
