Job Description
Job Summary:
Responsible for leading complex, multimodal transportation projects from award through closeout. The Senior Transport Project Manager provides strategic planning, financial management, customer leadership, risk mitigation, supplier coordination, and field execution oversight for heavy haul, transformer, wind, repower, BESS, rail, port, and specialized logistics projects. This role mentors Project Managers and serves as a technical leader within the Transport organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead multiple high-value transport projects simultaneously while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and profitability.
  • Develop comprehensive execution strategies including permitting, routing, lift planning, multimodal interfaces, and contingency planning.
  • Own project financial performance including forecasting, cost control, invoicing support, change orders, and gross margin protection.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact from kickoff through project completion.
  • Lead project risk identification, mitigation, and escalation.
  • Coordinate with Field Operations, Sourcing, Safety, Sales, Engineering, and Finance.
  • Manage carrier, crane, rail, barge, and specialty subcontractor performance.
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings, execution reviews, and closeout lessons learned.
  • Mentor Project Managers, Junior Project Managers, and Project Coordinators.
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization across the Transport segment.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of project management experience with heavy haul, specialized transport, industrial construction, or energy infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing transformers, BESS, rail, or other complex logistics projects.
  • Strong financial, contractual, and commercial management skills
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Technical Skills
Microsoft Project, Microsoft Planner, Smartsheet, Trimble Viewpoint or similar project management software. Power BI, ERP systems, scheduling software, transport permitting processes, risk management, project controls, and multimodal logistics planning.
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel up to 40% as project demands require, including construction job sites, ports, rail terminals, customer facilities, and supplier locations.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk, bend, twist, push, pull, climb ladders, lift 50lbs or more. 
  • Ability to work remotely. 
  • Work in all types of weather conditions; outside for extended periods of time when visiting project sites. 
  • Ability to work in typical office environment as needed.
  • Ability to work in typical warehouse environment as needed.
