Job description

The Director of Logistics is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end logistics, warehousing, inventory management, procurement coordination, and distribution processes supporting Hotwire Communications’ telecommunications operations. This leadership role ensures the timely delivery of materials and equipment to construction sites, data centers, and field service teams across all markets. The Director of Logistics develops strategic initiatives that reduce costs, improve service levels, and align logistics operations with business goals.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all logistics operations including inventory control, distribution, warehousing, transportation, and material planning.
  • Develop and implement strategic logistics plans to support regional and national deployments of telecom infrastructure and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain SOPs for warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, material handling, and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Field Operations, Construction, and Procurement to ensure timely availability of materials for ongoing projects.
  • Monitor vendor and shipping partner performance, negotiating contracts and managing service level agreements.
  • Optimize routing and delivery schedules for equipment shipments and returns.
  • Manage a distributed warehouse network and team of warehouse supervisors, logistics coordinators, and support staff.
  • Implement systems for tracking inbound/outbound shipments, inventory levels, and logistics KPIs.
  • Forecast material demand for ongoing and future projects, mitigating delays and shortages.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for shipping, safety, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Develop and manage department budgets, cost-saving initiatives, and procurement strategies.
  • Leverage technology and automation to improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.
  • Conduct audits and risk assessments to improve security, efficiency, and asset protection.
  • Support emergency logistics and disaster recovery preparedness for rapid mobilization.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development for logistics team members.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field required
  • 7+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or supply chain leadership
  • 3+ years in a director-level or senior management logistics role, preferably in the telecommunications or construction industry
  • Proficiency with ERP, inventory management, and logistics systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of shipping regulations, warehouse compliance, and transportation safety standards
  • Experience managing multi-location logistics and vendor relationships
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel up to 25%
