Job description

Overview The Operations Technician Trainee position is located at Marathon's Pocatello, ID facility. This position works in and around petroleum products facilities executing Operations & Logistics, Damage Prevention, Right of Way Relations activities, and Terminal Rack duties.

The successful candidate will perform such duties as: facilitating and monitoring pipeline movements and conducting product sampling; tank switches and cuts; assure accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, assisting carriers or drivers at the loading rack, maintaining VRU/VCU equipment, Environmental, Safety and Regulatory compliance. Travel, call-outs, and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis.

The successful candidate is required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location (Pocatello, ID). Responsibilities tasks associated with pipeline, terminal activities, measurements perform routine stations checks respond to and resolve station alarms and communicate findings to appropriate parties respond to right of way conflicts generate computerized work requests for maintenance tasks coordinate and communicate maintenance activities complete all required training perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required. An Associate's degree in a technical field is preferred. A valid driver's license is required. Proficiency in basic computer skills is expected. Previous pipeline experience with an emphasis on electrical/mechanical is highly preferred.
