Job description

DGM is currently looking for motivated, self-starting team players who lead by example and are eager to learn and expand their minds alongside our ever-growing brand.
The Logistics Dispatcher is responsible for supporting daily transportation and logistics operations by coordinating driver schedules, assigning shipments, monitoring deliveries, and communicating with drivers, customers, and warehouse personnel. This role assists with route planning, shipment tracking, documentation processing, and transportation updates while ensuring compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements. The dispatcher works under close supervision and develops foundational skills in logistics coordination, transportation management, customer communication, and operational support in order to maintain efficient, accurate, and timely freight movement operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, vendors, warehouses, and customers
  • Schedule pickups, deliveries, and transportation appointments
  • Track shipments and monitor delivery status to ensure on-time performance
  • Communicate shipment updates, delays, and issues to internal teams and customers
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation such as bills of lading, packing lists, manifests, and invoices
  • Maintain accurate records in transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, or spreadsheets
  • Verify shipment accuracy, inventory quantities, and delivery confirmations
  • Work with warehouse personnel to coordinate loading, unloading, and material movement
  • Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed to assist with loading, unloading, staging, and movement of freight.
  • Resolve transportation, routing, and delivery issues in a timely manner
  • Assist with carrier selection, rate verification, and freight cost tracking
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, DOT regulations, and safety requirements
  • Monitor inventory movement and assist with inventory reconciliation when needed
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics efficiency and customer service
  • Maintain professional communication with drivers, carriers, suppliers, and customers
  • Assist with reporting, data entry, and administrative logistics tasks assigned
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • 1-2 years of logistics, transportation, or dispatching experience preferred, with exposure to shipment coordination, route scheduling, freight tracking, customer communication, or transportation operations.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic experience coordinating shipments, scheduling deliveries, or supporting transportation and logistics operations preferred.
  • Experience using phones, email systems, GPS tracking platforms, transportation management systems (TMS), or dispatch software to support shipment coordination and communication activities.
  • Ability to accurately review, process, and verify shipment information using Bills of Lading, delivery schedules, manifests, and other transportation documents.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, shipment tracking, and internal communication; experience using logistics or dispatch systems preferred.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook preferred.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions, including safety procedures, customer requirements, and operational processes.
  • Ability to identify shipment discrepancies, delays, routing issues, or service concerns and report them appropriately to supervision.
  • Willingness to learn transportation regulations, hazardous materials requirements, and company logistics procedures under supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics environment with shifting priorities, changing schedules, and time-sensitive deliveries.
  • Must successfully complete required safety and regulatory training, including OSHA, TSA, and company-specific programs, within established timelines.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment in accordance with company safety policies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY EXPECTATIONS
  • Work is performed primarily in a warehouse and dock environment with frequent exposure to delivery vehicles, moving equipment, and varying noise levels.
  • Regular interaction with truck drivers, vendors, and internal staff in active receiving and staging areas.
  • May work in indoor and outdoor or semi-covered areas depending on dock location, weather, and delivery activity.
  • Required to follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, TSA security procedures, and site-specific work instructions at all times.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility vests, and hearing protection as required by task or area.
  • Expected to maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas including docks, aisles, racks, and receiving zones in accordance with housekeeping standards.
  • Required to remain alert and aware of surroundings while working around moving trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.
  • Must immediately report safety hazards, near misses, incidents, damaged freight, or security concerns to supervision or QHSE.
  • Required to comply with all hazardous materials handling procedures under supervision, including proper labeling, segregation, and storage.
  • May be required to work extended hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, or overtime based on operational needs and delivery schedules.
  • Must maintain compliance with security procedures, including ID verification of drivers and monitoring of facility access points.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach as required for receiving, inspection, labeling, and storage tasks.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to safely operate manual pallet jacks, carts, and other warehouse tools.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions such as scanning, labeling, counting, and data entry.
  • Ability to visually inspect freight, labels, and documentation for accuracy and damage.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret shipping documents, Bills of Lading, packing slips, and work instructions.
  • Ability to use computers, scanners, tablets, and handheld devices for inventory and receiving transactions.
