Job description

The Test Track Operations Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supporting all day-to-day activities associated with tolling system testing and validation efforts conducted at the test track. This role serves as the central point of coordination for personnel, drivers, vehicles, schedules, equipment, vendors, and logistical support necessary to execute testing activities efficiently and safely.
The Supervisor works closely with technicians, engineers, project teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure testing objectives are met while maintaining operational readiness and compliance with established procedures. This position combines hands-on coordination of tolling technology testing with the logistical management required to support successful test events.
This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Test Operations Coordination
  • Coordinate daily test track activities and ensure resources are available to support scheduled testing.
  • Develop and maintain testing schedules, timelines, and operational plans.
  • Coordinate test events with internal departments, vendors, customers, and project teams.
  • Monitor testing progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet project objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day test track operations.

Personnel and Driver Coordination
  • Schedule and coordinate drivers, technicians, and support personnel for testing activities.
  • Ensure staffing requirements are met for all testing events.
  • Organize driver instructions, assignments, and testing routes.
  • Maintain records of participation, schedules, and operational activities.
  • Support onboarding and training activities for drivers and testing personnel.

Vehicle and Logistics Management
  • Coordinate rental vehicles and fleet resources required for testing.
  • Schedule vehicle preparation, inspections, fueling, and maintenance activities.
  • Manage logistics for test events, including meals, supplies, equipment, and other operational needs.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and accommodations when required.
  • Maintain inventory of testing equipment and operational supplies.

Tolling System Testing Support
  • Support testing and validation of electronic toll collection systems, transponders, vehicle classification systems, video tolling systems, and associated equipment.
  • Assist with test execution and documentation of results.
  • Ensure testing activities are conducted according to established procedures and project requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment setup and readiness for testing activities.
  • Support issue tracking, troubleshooting efforts, and follow-up actions.

Safety and Compliance
  • Promote safe work practices during test track operations.
  • Ensure personnel follow established safety procedures and operational guidelines.
  • Participate in safety meetings and pre-test briefings.
  • Report safety concerns, incidents, and operational risks.
  • Support compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Reporting and Documentation
  • Maintain testing schedules, operational records, and activity logs.
  • Prepare reports summarizing test activities, resource utilization, and logistics coordination.
  • Track testing milestones and support project documentation requirements.
  • Communicate status updates, schedule changes, and operational needs to stakeholders.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives for test track operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
  • Supervise contract test track drivers.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering Technology, Transportation Systems, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in operations coordination, transportation, tolling, field operations, testing environments, or related industries.
  • Experience coordinating schedules, personnel, vehicles, and logistics.
  • Experience working in a technical or operational environment preferred.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical staff, vendors, and customers.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with tolling systems, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), or transportation operations.
  • Experience coordinating field testing activities.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) technologies.
  • Experience supporting project teams in a testing or validation environment.
  • Knowledge of scheduling, fleet management, or logistics coordination.
