JOB SUMMARY

Primarily responsible for booking and managing outside transportation for PTC Logistics. The Assistant Logistics Account Manager will book the loads on orders and ensure the effective management of each load in order to provide optimal customer service. This position in conjunction with the Director of Logistics will organize the efficient distribution of inbound raw materials to the processing facility, and outbound finished goods to each Regional Distribution Center and the customer to ensure that orders are correctly satisfied and cost efficient. The Assistant Logistics Account Manager is expected to manage the daily activities and resolve any issues under his/her qualified discretion.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage outside truckload transportation for Pero Family Farms loads
  • Book Trucks off of DAT
  • Negotiating for the best rate and service with carriers
  • Ensure carriers meet or exceed performance requirements including customer service, quality, and compliance
  • Responsible for shipment from booking truck to final delivery


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Truck booking experience (reefer freight is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Extensive knowledge on DAT load board
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn and understand transportation software systems and technologies
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is primarily performed in a professional office or hybrid environment
  • Frequent interaction with logistics providers, customers, internal operations, transportation, and warehouse teams
  • Standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional extended hours to support shipments, resolve issues, or meet deadlines
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Regular use of computers, phones, transportation management systems (TMS), and standard office equipment
  • Occasional travel to customer sites, warehouses, distribution centers, or carrier locations
  • May occasionally work in warehouse or transportation environments, with exposure to noise, moving equipment, temperature fluctuations, and vehicle traffic
  • Participation in meetings, conference calls, and on-site reviews related to logistics performance and customer service


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for keyboarding, data entry, and system navigation
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout office, warehouse, or distribution environments as needed
  • Visual acuity required for reviewing shipping documents, reports, and electronic data
  • Ability to hear and communicate clearly in person and via phone or virtual meetings
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of materials such as files, packages, or equipment (generally up to 25 lbs.)
  • Ability to safely travel by car or other transportation methods as required
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering warehouse or operational areas
