Job description

The Logistics Engineer 1 analyzes the supply chain, transportation, warehouse operations and distribution network and develops recommendations for reducing freight costs, creating material efficiencies, and improving on-time delivery. Establishes, maintains, and communicates statistical data on the tracking of product shipments, returns, and inventory. Supports the business functions of logistics and helps to develop strategy from a data standpoint. Manages individual and department projects that help logistics meet goals of efficiency and service to the customer.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the extraction of data and generating reports that assist in performance tracking and decision making.
  • Assist with data validation, cleansing, profiling, baseline development & defining scenarios to model.
  • Assist with the calculation of labor, equipment, facility and expense requirements based on transportation and warehousing design assumptions.
  • Assist with the Development of process flows, concept of operations and value propositions consistent with the win strategy and work with IT to develop concept of systems.
  • Assist with the Development of optimization scenarios and strategies that are aligned with objectives.
  • Conduct research as needed to respond to customer requests.
  • Develop, edit and test scripts, programs and software to automate and improve business processes, reports, decisions.
  • Assist with the maintenance data systems to house and share critical Logistics data. Ensure data is available for data consumers within the organization.
  • Participate in discussions to provide suggestions and implement plans to improve business processes.
  • Gain understanding of how the business works assist with the creation of value-adding opportunities.
  • Complete project work internally with the department to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
  • Assist meeting project schedules.
  • Assist with maintaining high quality data governance.
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

Experience:
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Project Management experience required.

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Data Science, Computer Science required or may consider equivalent & relevant work experience with formal training and certifications

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working from a computer.
  • Travel requirement of up to 5%.
  • Work environment occasionally contains forklift traffic, various PPE may be required.
  • Some lifting may be required (up to 20 lbs.).
