Job description

Job Title: Sr. SSD Application Engineer
Location: Milpitas, CA Compensation: $150,000 - $200,000 per year.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly technical Senior SSD Application Engineer to develop front-end firmware features and drive technical design-ins for Enterprise and Data Center storage solutions. You will work directly with hardware designers and customers to resolve complex technical barriers, debug platform-related issues, and shape future product definitions.
Key Responsibilities
Firmware Development: Develop and modify firmware for SSD products to meet product specifications and customer requirements, adhering to PCIe and NVMe protocols.
Technical Debugging: Debug host interface issues encountered during internal or customer testing. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective firmware changes.
Customer Collaboration: Act as a technical advisor and consultant for customers. Manage SSD debug and qualification requirements in collaboration with internal engineering teams.
Ecosystem Advocacy: Evangelize the technical benefits of enterprise-level controllers, drive product adoption, and translate customer needs into internal product improvements.
Cross-functional Teamwork: Participate in customer meetings and presentations, collaborating closely with project management and engineering teams to deliver results.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in each of the following:
Software/firmware applications engineering.
SSD controller/firmware architecture.
PCIe and NVMe protocols (Host reset, power management, namespace, MSI-X, SMBus, ARP, etc.).
Analyzing PCIe protocol traces for front-end issue resolution.
Technical Skills: * Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming and data structures.
Hands-on experience with JTAG/ICE debuggers and version control (Git).
Knowledge of Windows and Linux-based OS in data center environments.
Familiarity with storage architecture (PCIe Switches, RAID controllers, HBAs, JBODs/JBOFs).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and bus protocol analyzers.
Proficiency with hardware peripherals and development environments.
Fluency in reading and writing Mandarin is a plus.
COMPENSATION
Base Salary - USD $150,000 to $200,000
