Job description

Summary of Position: This position directly manages the full spectrum of housekeeping functions for the Land’s End Lodges. As an independent Department within Land’s End, the position reports directly to the GM. However, it is essential that the Head Housekeeper for the Lodges maintain a strong working relationship and level of coordination and trust with the Land’s End Hotel Manager and Hotel Head Housekeeper.

The position of Head Housekeeper for the Lodges is an executive level position, with a clear emphasis on recruitment, hiring, training, ordering supplies, generating work orders and other high-level management tasks. However, the position is also “hands-on” and is expected to work closely with housekeeping staff. The position implements all cleaning standards for the Lodges and is responsible for communicating with the Land’s End front desk regarding daily arrivals and departures.

Essential Functions

  1. Implement Land’s End Housekeeping standards and policies at the Lodges.
  2. Hire, train, schedule, supervise and coordinate the workforce which is necessary to accomplish the task of cleaning the Land’s End Lodges as seasonal occupancy demands.
  3. Coordinate the needs of Lodge Room Attendants with those of the Land’s End Hotel. Such coordination includes the daily monitoring of guest arrivals and departures; the sharing of personnel; training; ordering and delivery of supplies; requisition of clean linen and depositing of dirty linens; and generating maintenance work orders and monitoring their status.
  4. Inspect Lodges daily for cleanliness and appropriate guest amenities and working condition of equipment. Inform Lodge Manager or appropriate personnel of furniture or appliances requiring repair.
  5. Evaluate housekeeper’s job performance according to the Land’s End’s standards. Assume full responsibility for corrective measures or appropriate disciplinary action consistent with Land’s End policy guidelines.
  6. Order Lodge cleaning supplies; code and approve invoices as appropriate.
  7. Implement Land’s End Lost and Found procedures by training staff to report and turn in items found in the Lodges.
  8. Demonstrate a commitment to guest services by responding promptly to internal and external customer needs. Interact with guests in a friendly, positive and solution-oriented manner.
  9. Schedule and supervise deep cleaning of rooms and lodges.
  10. Fulfill the role of Lodge Room Attendants as needed to implement Lodge cleaning standards.
  11. Retain confidentiality among internal and external customers.

Qualification

Able to follow procedures and policies; Ability to work independently.

  1. Able to work around cleaning chemicals.
  2. Ability to supervise and work well with staff.
  3. The ability to anticipate guest needs, change goals and direction quickly and multitask.
  4. Be proficient at using the Room Key computerized program for all housekeeping functions.
  5. Able to lift 50 lbs. and climb stairs.
