Position Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Front of House Manager / Manager-on-Dut
Position Summary:
The Cashier is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while processing transactions, taking orders, and serving food and beverages at the counter or table. This position plays a critical role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests, ensuring smooth operations, and supporting food and beverage preparation. The Cashier will also help maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area and front-of-house stations. Reports to Front of House Manager / Manager-on-Duty.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide friendly and welcoming service to all customers, consistently acting in line with the values of Lodge Bread Company.
  • Take and process food and beverage orders accurately through the POS system, ensuring clear communication with customers regarding menu options and recommendations.
  • Handle payments with a cash register, credit card processing machines, and mobile payment methods, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare and serve a variety of food items including sandwiches, salads, pastries, and hot meals, following standard portion sizes and recipes.
  • Ensure that all menu items are packaged properly for takeout orders, and handle special customer requests with care.
  • Refill and restock beverages, condiments, and service items throughout the shift to ensure smooth and continuous service.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the cashier station, dining areas, and customer service zones. This includes wiping down surfaces, sweeping floors, and removing trash as needed.
  • Brew and prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages, including cappuccinos and espresso drinks, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the kitchen and barista teams by coordinating the flow of orders and assisting with minor food preparation tasks as necessary (e.g., assembling simple dishes, replenishing bakery items).
  • Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages to the manager.
  • Uphold Lodge Bread Company’s food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, address complaints with professionalism, and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure timely delivery of food orders.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings, provide feedback for improvement, and participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Support fellow employees during busy periods and fill in for absent staff when needed to maintain service standards.
  • Supplemental Responsibilities:
  • Write customer orders clearly on tickets and provide ticket stubs for identifying completed orders.
  • Organize and maintain the dining area, setting up tables and clearing them after use.
  • Help prepare food items when needed, such as carving meats or portioning desserts.
  • Handle and store food and beverages according to Lodge Bread Company’s safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure that the dining area is clean, inviting, and well-stocked at all times, and address any customer concerns promptly.
