Lodge Associate information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a lodge associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lodge Associate, you need customer service expertise, basic hospitality knowledge, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with reservation systems, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, and housekeeping or maintenance tools is commonly required. Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and a friendly demeanor help associates create positive guest experiences and resolve issues efficiently. These abilities are crucial for ensuring guest satisfaction, smooth lodge operations, and repeat business in the hospitality industry.

What are some common challenges lodge associates face during peak seasons, and how can they effectively manage them?

Lodge Associates often encounter increased guest volume and heightened expectations during peak seasons, such as holidays and vacation periods. This can lead to longer hours, multitasking between guest services and housekeeping, and managing guest concerns promptly. To effectively manage these challenges, it's important to prioritize tasks, maintain clear communication with team members, and stay organized. Many lodges provide additional training and support during busy times, and associates who demonstrate adaptability and teamwork often find these periods rewarding for personal and professional growth.

What is a lodge associate?

Lodge associates are staff members who work at lodges, resorts, or similar hospitality establishments. Their responsibilities often include assisting guests with check-in and check-out, maintaining common areas, providing information about the property and local attractions, and ensuring guests have a comfortable stay. Lodge associates may also help with housekeeping, reservations, and handling guest requests or issues. The role requires excellent customer service skills, problem-solving abilities, and a friendly, welcoming attitude. Depending on the size and type of lodge, associates may work in various departments or specialize in specific tasks.

Job description

Discover a unique opportunity to be part of the rich history of Key West at the Key West Historic Inns Collection. Formerly known as Kimpton Key West, our historic collection boasts 219 guestrooms across Winslow’s Bungalows, Lighthouse Hotel, Ridley House, Ella’s Cottages, and Fitch Lodge. These buildings, originally homes for army officers, industrialists, and steamboat captains, reflect architectural styles from Conch to Queen Anne. Built when Key West was Florida's largest city in 1900, each structure holds captivating stories of gold discoveries and vaudeville performances. Join us and become a part of a team that embraces the vibrant past while offering unparalleled hospitality. Explore our property history at www.keywesthistoricinns.com for more information.

Key West Historic Inns is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and service-focused Engineering Coordinator to support the daily operations of our Engineering department. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys coordinating projects, managing administrative processes, and ensuring maintenance requests are completed efficiently while contributing to an exceptional guest experience.

As the Engineering Coordinator, you will serve as the central point of communication for the Engineering department by coordinating work orders, maintaining maintenance records, scheduling preventive maintenance, assisting with purchasing and inventory, and supporting departmental operations. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, Engineering Supervisor, vendors, and hotel leadership, you'll help ensure our hotels remain safe, well-maintained, and operating efficiently.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or coursework in business administration, facilities management, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
• Two (2) to four (4) years of administrative, facilities, engineering, maintenance, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Previous experience coordinating maintenance work orders, purchasing, inventory, or departmental administration preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
• Experience processing purchase orders, invoices, inventory, and vendor documentation is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, team members, vendors, and leadership.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Must meet the minimum age requirement of the jurisdiction.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as business needs require.
