Job description

Job Overview
Grand Itasca is seeking a Trauma & Stroke Program Coordinator to join out team! In this 0.8 FTE (64 hours/pay period) role you will provide leadership for the development and ongoing operations of the Trauma and Stroke Programs. Coordinate and monitor the trauma and stroke service and continual improvement through strategic planning initiatives. Work both independently and in collaboration with the System Trauma and Stroke Program leaders, other site coordinators, and other members of the health care team.

Job Duties:
  • Provides consistent coordination to facilitate and evaluate delivery of care to ensure that trauma and stroke specific standards and regulations are met.
  • Coordinates trauma and stroke care, including planning and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines. Monitors adherence to standards and policies.
  • Collaborates with the Trauma and Stroke Medical Directors and Program Manager in the development, implementation and evaluation for process improvement plans which is multidisciplinary, and patient-outcome focused.
  • Serve as the coordinator for the identification, investigation, reporting and follow up of incidents and quality issues throughout the trauma and stroke programs while maintaining confidentiality.
  • In partnership with the Trauma and Stroke Medical Directors, provides monitoring and mentoring of providers in overall clinical performance and documentation.
  • In coordination with program leadership, will develop and plan the Trauma and Stroke Committee's agenda and quality initiatives per the MDH and TJC program requirements
  • Functions as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in trauma and stroke care. Ensures a consistent excellent customer experience. Responds to all trauma and stroke activations when scheduled.
  • Functions as a liaison for EMS agencies, and the community

Required Qualification:
  • Current State of Minnesota RN License
  • Two (2) or more years critical care nursing experience
  • Basc Life Support (BLS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BSN preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years experience in critical cares.
  • Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) preferred or willing to obtain within 24 months.
  • Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) preferred or willing to obtain within 24 months.
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification preferred or willing to obtain within 6 months.
  • Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification or attain certification within six months of employment and maintains certification
