Requirements:
  • Active Wisconsin RN license and Nurse Practitioner certification (with prescriptive authority).
  • Current DEA registration and BLS certification.
  • Knowledge of advanced nursing theory, pharmacology, diagnostics, and correctional healthcare.
  • Ability to work independently, manage diverse cases, and respond effectively in emergencies.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct physical exams, assess health status, and establish medical diagnoses.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications; order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Provide preventive, acute, and chronic illness management to persons in custody.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in the electronic health system.
  • Participate in quality improvement, staff training, and patient education programs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support the DOC’s Reentry and evidence-based care initiatives.
