Job description

Locum Pathologist Physician Opportunity

MercyOne Dubuque is in need of a locum pathologist physician. Schedule/Dates of coverage: One week/month M-F 8-5 and call on weekends/nights. Practice setting: hospital based. Reason for coverage: busy practice with one provider needing some time off. Approx. number of cases read per day: varies by the cases - approx 40 surgical/cytology. The locum tenens physician's responsibility for the clinical lab includes clinical lab-blood bank/resolve difficult antibodies hematology - reviewing out of the norm peripheral blood smears. The locum provider will not be responsible for grossing their own specimens or cutting their own frozen sections on the cryostat. There is one and a half physicians in the group, four histotechnologists, one pathology assistant, and two cytotechnologists. The locum tenens physician will be required to supervise other healthcare providers. The type of cryostat is Leica and the type of microscope is Olympus. The cytology proficiency exam required for GYN cytology is no. The method of preparation is Surepath. The documentation system/EMR is CoPath. Estimated credentialing timeframe is 90 days. Required anatomic pathology procedures include surgical pathology, GI pathology, GU pathology, dermatopathology, cytology, and autopsy. Required clinical pathology procedures include hematology, microbiology, chemistry/serology, and blood bank. Additional required procedures include attending and giving immediate adequacy statements for fine needle aspirations.
