Job description

A leading healthcare system in Lansing, Michigan seeks a Locum Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to provide coverage in a high-acuity Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within a Level I Trauma Center. This role involves collaborative, inpatient care of critically ill and premature newborns alongside an experienced neonatology team.

Position details

  • Setting: Inpatient, Level III NICU
  • Facility: Level I Trauma Center
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM; Night: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
  • Weekend coverage required; no on-call duties
  • EMR: Epic

Clinical responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of critically ill and premature neonates
  • Participate in daily rounds and multidisciplinary care planning
  • Manage NICU admissions, consultations, and discharges
  • Collaborate closely with neonatologists, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and ancillary services
  • Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic
  • Typical patient load: approximately 10–12 patients per APP per day

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Active Michigan NP license required
  • Neonatal experience required; prior work in a Level II–IV NICU preferred
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
  • Strong neonatal critical care and clinical assessment skills
