Job description

Locum Tenens Opportunity: Non-Invasive Cardiologist

Facility: UCSF Campus Zuckerberg San Francisco General
Specialty: Cardiology – Non-Invasive
Location: San Francisco, CA
Start Date: ASAP (Emergency privileges may be available if no malpractice history – ~30 days)
Contract Length: 6 months (with option to extend)
Shift Details: Monday–Friday, 5x8s
Schedule: Minimum 2 weeks/month coverage


Position Overview

UCSF Campus at Zuckerberg San Francisco General is seeking Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Non-Invasive Cardiologists for a locum tenens role. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a Level 1 trauma center and academic teaching hospital with a diverse patient population.

You’ll primarily provide ECHO services (TEE, TTE), with an option to participate in inpatient rounding if you have an academic medical center background.

Support & Environment
  • Echo Team: Dedicated echo techs
  • Cardiology Backup: Inpatient attending always available via phone
  • Interventional Cardiology: On-call support
  • EMR: Epic
  • Patient Volume: ~25–30 echos/day
  • Patient Population: Adults only
  • Setting: Inpatient & Outpatient

✅ Requirements
  • Board Certification: BC/BE in Cardiovascular Disease
  • License: Active CA Medical License
  • DEA: CA DEA with Schedule II
  • Certifications: BLS required; Advanced Echocardiography Level III preferred
  • Experience:
    • Recent high-volume echo reading
    • Strong preference for teaching experience
    • Experience with diverse populations
    • Bilingual skills a plus
    • New grads welcome to apply
