SkillBridge Program Opportunity - Amentum

Location: Dahlgren, VA

Program Type: DoD SkillBridge Internship (Unpaid, Training Opportunity)

Eligibility: Active-duty service members within 90 to 180 days of separation, with command approval

About the Program

Amentum is proud to partner with the Department of War SkillBridge program to offer transitioning service members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through industry-specific training, mentorship, and hands-on projects. This program is designed to help you translate your military skills into a rewarding civilian career while still on active duty. Participants will work alongside experienced professionals, receive targeted training, and build a professional network to support post-service employment.

Job Summary:

Provide support to NSWC Dahlgren H20 for AN/SQQ-89 testing at integrator location (Lockheed Martin/Manassas VA) for domestic and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

Write and execute test cases that will exercise both the SQQ-89 system as well as its external interfaces including but not limited to AWS, VLS, TSP, and Radar

  • Document issues observed with SQQ-89 and its external interfaces with clear descriptions and steps to reproduce for later analysis

  • Review system documentation and requirements and provide technical input to the Systems Engineering team

  • Review issues from the Fleet Support team and re-create the issue in the lab for further investigation

  • Witness installing the SQQ-89 system ensuring the SVD is following and providing redlined changes as needed

  • Work with the system Integrator's automated test team to design automated test scripts

  • Travel approximately 10% of the time

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline with seven (7) years of systems test experience with real-time weapons systems, combat systems, or fire control systems; or

    • US Naval operational experience in a combat systems rate at the E6 level or higher with four (4) years of systems test experience with real-time weapons systems, combat systems, or fire control systems; or

    • Ten (10) years of systems test experience with real-time weapons systems, combat systems, or fire control systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in testing and test analysis of systems or software for surface ship weapons control and C2 systems.

  • Performing test activities including developer/capability level testing, functional level testing (FQT/Verification and Validation), software/system integration testing, or AEGIS combat systems integration land-based testing.

  • Using simulators in a test environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Confluence)

  • Experience with ASW fire control system (e.g., AN/SQQ-89)

Compensation Details:

$80 to $100K
