Job description

HVAC / Mechanical Estimator

Location: Southeast Michigan (Office: Taylor, MI)
Salary: $75,000 - $120,000 annually (based on experience)

We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated HVAC/Mechanical Estimator to help support continued growth in commercial and industrial construction projects. This position plays a critical role in evaluating opportunities, preparing accurate estimates, identifying project risks, and supporting successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, and scope requirements for commercial and industrial projects.
  • Prepare material takeoffs and labor estimates for HVAC, piping, sheet metal, controls, and related scopes.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing.
  • Identify scope gaps, project risks, exclusions, and schedule concerns.
  • Develop value engineering alternatives and cost-saving solutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and support bid review meetings.
  • Coordinate project handoff information to operations and project management teams.
  • Maintain cost databases, historical pricing information, and estimating tools.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of mechanical estimating experience.
  • Strong understanding of commercial HVAC, piping, controls, hydronics, ductwork, and construction documents.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, Procore or similar platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards, and SMACNA guidelines.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
