Job description

Automotive New Car Sales Manager — Matt Bowers Hyundai (Metairie, LA)

Own the new-car floor. At Matt Bowers Hyundai, you’ll lead a high-velocity sales team representing Elantra, Sonata, Kona, Tucson, Santa Fe, Palisade, and the IONIQ EV lineup—and deliver consistent growth, elite CSI, and rock-solid process. We’re looking for a hands-on closer with 3+ years of proven new-car manager success who can forecast, hire, train, and execute at speed.

What You’ll Do
  • Plan & hit the number: Build monthly/annual forecasts for units, gross, and key expense lines; own the operating budget and deliver the plan.

  • Build a killer team: Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and performance-manage all new-vehicle sales staff; set aggressive yet realistic goals for each salesperson and coach them to win.

  • Run the desk: Structure deals, desk pencils, help close when needed; ensure tight desking, clean paperwork, and same-day settlement sheets to accounting.

  • Process = profit: Maintain an accurate daily sales log; implement prospecting, follow-up, and sales-control systems that drive high set/seen/sold and next-day be-backs.

  • Compliance first: Stay current and comply with federal, state, and local sales regulations; ensure policy adherence across the team.

  • Staff for traffic: Direct and schedule all department activities to ensure proper coverage at all times; hold daily huddles and weekly sales meetings.

  • Product mastery: Provide continuous training and resources on Hyundai SmartSense, trims/packages, hybrid/EV basics, and competitive positioning; keep the team sharp on F&I menus and accessory attachment.

  • CSI & delivery standards: Enforce elite delivery procedures, schedule the first service appointment at delivery, and drive five-star follow-up.

  • Data discipline: Provide accurate floor-traffic reports daily; process commission sheets; monitor payroll records.

  • Inventory that moves: Review inventory daily; recommend color/model/equipment mix for maximum turn; partner with Used Car on trade appraisals.

  • Market the store: Direct merchandising and advertising for the new-vehicle department; collaborate on campaigns and promotions that convert.

  • Cross-department cadence: Communicate effectively with Service, Parts, BDC, and F&I to protect gross, raise penetration, and lift retention.

What You Bring
  • 3+ years as a New-Car Sales Manager (Hyundai/import brand experience strongly preferred) with a proven track record of hitting volume, gross, and CSI targets.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • Expert command of sales metrics, forecasting, and inventory management; fluent with CRM and desking tools.

  • Superior communication: run tight meetings, coach up (and out), and present to senior leadership.

  • Strong financial and analytical skills (rates, ratios, commissions, % to target).

  • State sales license and valid driver’s license.
