Production Supervisor - Newspaper Printing & Mailing (Evening)
The Pioneer has an immediate opening at its production facility in Big Rapids. The Evening Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the smooth, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the newspaper printing, mailing, packaging, and bindery processes during the evening hours. The manager ensures all production tasks are completed on schedule and meet quality standards, providing leadership to a dedicated team while ensuring effective communication across departments. The hours for this role are 5 PM to 1 PM.

What You Will Do:

  • Operational Management:ย Oversee the evening operations of printing, mailing, packaging, and bindery, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tasks.
  • Equipment Oversight:ย Manage the setup, operation, and maintenance of key equipment such as the SLS 1000 Inserter, Kansa Inserter, and Muller Martini Saddle Stitcher, addressing any technical issues to minimize disruptions.
  • Quality Assurance:ย Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure products meet organizational standards and client expectations.
  • Team Leadership:ย Recruit, train, and supervise a diverse team, fostering a collaborative environment focused on efficiency and excellence.
  • Process Improvement:ย Identify and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency while reducing waste and cost.
  • Communication and Coordination:ย Facilitate communication with the press crew and other departments to optimize efficiency across the plant.
  • Safety Compliance:ย Maintain a safe and compliant workspace by enforcing safety regulations and best practices.
  • Delivery Oversight:ย Coordinate the preparation and staging for delivery drivers, ensuring timely dispatch of finished products.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in printing, packaging, or related operations management.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment quickly.
  • Excellent leadership skills, capable of managing and inspiring a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computers and familiarity with industry-specific software.
  • Forklift certification and a valid driver's license are preferred.
  • This is a working manager position where the manager actively works alongside the team to achieve production goals and maintain high-quality standards.ย
