We are looking for a Chief Inspector in Rhode Island that serves as the on-site lead representative responsible for overseeing all construction engineering and inspection activities associated with bridges and other structures on related transportation infrastructure projects in Rhode Island. This position is responsible for managing and supervising a team of construction inspectors in the field, observing and inspecting contractor construction operations for compliance with RIDOT specifications, FHWA requirements, project plans, and quality standards, while safeguarding public safety, environmental compliance, and project delivery objectives.

The Impact You'll Make
Project Oversight & Leadership
  • Act as primary field representative between RIDOT, contractors, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Lead and supervise a team of construction inspectors.
  • Ensure material testing is compliant with project specifications and RIDOT Master Schedule of Testing requirements.
  • Manage inspection assignments, schedules, and daily field operations.
  • Ensure adherence to RIDOT Standard Specifications, Supplemental Specifications, and Standard Details.

Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure contractor compliance with RIDOT and FHWA standards, AASHTO requirements and OSHA safety regulations
  • Ensure temporary traffic control measures conform with approved project-specific Traffic Management Plan and Traffic Control Plans.
  • Review and approve material certifications, concrete mix designs and shop drawings and working drawings (as assigned)
  • Coordinate and verify material testing (concrete, steel, asphalt, etc.).
  • Maintain project documentation including, daily inspection reports, non-compliance notices and working progress and quantity calculations

The Expertise You'll Bring
  • NICET or PE certificate plus 6 years of field inspection experience.
  • BSCE or NICET required.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to work weekends, nights, and swing shifts as required on assigned projects

Compensation & Pay Transparency
At Egis, we believe transparency helps candidates make informed career decisions. As part of our commitment to an open and equitable hiring process, we've included the anticipated base salary range for this position below.
Anticipated Base Salary Range: $50.00 -$80.00 per hour
