Job Description:

The Disability & Return to Work Coordinator reports to Team Member Health and works closely with stakeholders to optimize Stay at Work and Return to Work outcomes while ensuring compliance with Federal, State regulations, and union agreements. This role coordinates Disability Management and Return to Work services for team members experiencing occupational and non-occupational illnesses or injuries. The Coordinator applies in-depth knowledge of disability regulations and vocational strategies to inform team members and leaders on options and responsibilities, supporting successful return to work.

Key responsibilities include making independent decisions about applying rules, laws, and union agreements, collaborating on return to work policies, and developing workflows to ensure clear communication and maximize the Team Member experience.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal, State, and Local absence and accommodation regulations.

  • Strong understanding of Return to Work principles and privacy legislation.

  • Ability to interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements related to disability, absences, and accommodations.

  • Ability to identify potential safety concerns and escalate as necessary.

  • Strong team collaboration skills, especially with Absence Management Program Administrator, to ensure smooth leave processes.

  • Ability to consult and provide guidance on disability, return to work, workersโ€™ compensation, and accommodation issues to leaders and stakeholders.


Submission Requirements:
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Human Resources, Vocational Rehabilitation, or related field โ€“ Required

  • 2+ years experience in design, development, and consultation on disability, Workersโ€™ Compensation, and return to work systems and processes โ€“ Required

  • 6+ years experience managing end-to-end disability, return to work, ADA, and Workersโ€™ Compensation programs, preferably in a union environment โ€“ Required
