Job description

Description

Route Delivery Driver with a class A or B CDL license to deliver products to businesses on a scheduled route or intermittently. Establish and maintain high levels of customer service. This is a union position (Local 25, 653, and 122).

For the first few weeks of training, compensation will be paid at an hourly rate of $26.30. Upon successful completion of training, compensation will transition to a commission-based structure. New employees in their first year may earn an average of $65,000 to $80,000. 


Schedule: Tuesday - Friday

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for delivering products to customer locations
  • Deliver to an average of 28-32 stops
  • Unload a range of cases from 150 to 1200, depending on the route
  • Depending upon volume, delivery vehicles will be operated by a single driver or driver accompanied by a helper
  • Walk up and down ramps and stairs (tight cellars) of liquor stores bars, and restaurants
  • Operate a forklift, pallet jack, and two-wheeler
  • Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed
  • Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations
  • Maintain appropriate drivers' license and endorsements
  • All loads are picked by seniority (bidding system) daily

Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate effective use of safety rules including proper lifting
  • Ability to lift cases averaging 50lbs. from floor to shoulder height
  • Ability to operate a two-wheeled hand truck, pushing and pulling weights exceeding 150lbs.
  • Forklift experience is a plus, but not necessary
  • Respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records
  • Able to work in all weather conditions
  • Familiar with navigating in city of Boston

Education/Experience/Training:

  • 3 Years of route driving experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Understand highway traffic signs and signals
  • Basic computer experience or knowledge a plus

*Must complete a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and clearinghouse.
