Job description

Are you detail-oriented, relationship-driven, and energized by supporting business growth? As a Loan Assistant, you'll play an essential role in helping our Commercial and Agricultural lenders deliver an exceptional client experience.
In this role, you'll be the trusted partner behind the scenes, proactively managing loan portfolios, coordinating the loan process from application to closing, and ensuring every detail is handled accurately and efficiently. You'll serve as a key connection point between clients, lenders, underwriting, and loan operations, helping move deals forward while building strong, lasting relationships.
Your work will directly support local businesses and agricultural clients by streamlining documentation, facilitating communication, and ensuring a smooth, responsive lending experience. By combining organization, problem-solving, and outstanding service, you'll contribute to client retention, business development, and the overall success of our lending team.

Retention and Development of Commercial & Ag Client Relationships
  • Assist clients with various requests including but not limited to line of credit draws, overdraft information, and other duties that does not require the attention of the Lenders.
  • Build trust and rapport with clients by being a confidential/direct contact for them.
  • Facilitate and keep lines of communication open by acting as a liaison between clients, Lenders, loan production, underwriters, and other bank personnel.
  • Promote and refer other bank products and services to solidify banking relationship with clients.
  • Assist with Lenders appointment and meeting calendars as appropriate.
  • Attend outside client meetings as needed.
  • Work with/assist Lenders and Loan Production with past due reports, collection calls, collecting of financial statements, etc. as appropriate.
  • Assist with data entry into the loan and/or banking systems as needed or requested including but not limited to logging activities and opportunities for lenders in Sageworks.

Perform functions associated with Commercial and Agriculture Loans:
  • Actively assist in the loan origination process for new and renewal loan requests by assisting Lenders, loan production, underwriting and/or others, including but not limited to, starting online loan applications and running pricing models in Sageworks, producing Client Relationship Summary sheets in Marquis, managing lender's renewal pipeline proactively, communicating with lenders and clients on information needed and completing workflow tasks in Sageworks.
  • Assist loan production and underwriting with information requests needed to complete a loan package, including but not limited to, required financial documents, specific loan related project or purchase documents, client entity documents, personal identification verification documents and evidence of insurance for collateral securing loans.
  • Communicate professionally with clients in order to collect all documentation necessary or as requested. Actively monitor collection for expediency and follow up with clients or internal associates as necessary on progress.
  • Perform clerical duties including copying of client documentation as appropriate, assisting in loan closings, mailing out renewal paperwork, following up on pending items, etc.
  • Assist in coordinating closings with lenders, clients or other associates.
  • Actively communicate with lenders and other loan staff on the status of loans being worked on for progress, timing, etc.
  • Assist with Pipeline Reporting and be an active participant to collaborate on calls and in meetings.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Provide general clerical duties on as needed to both the lending teams and/or other areas of the bank to provide extraordinary client experience.
  • Continually develop knowledge, skills and abilities through internal and external training programs.
  • Complete all annual security and compliance training as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information at all times.
  • Actively participate in bank and department meetings.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or administrative/client service experience working with Commercial and/or Agriculture clients.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to be able to interact and communicate with a diverse group of clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the organization in a professional, positive manner.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent follow up skills.
  • Advanced computer skills with working knowledge of software programs, such as, Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and the Internet with ability and willingness to learn new software/programs.
  • Good accounting skills with the ability to work precisely with numbers and financial calculations.
  • Capability to maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Administrative Professional, Business Management, Finance, Accounting or similar program and/or two-three years previous experience.
  • Previous experience with commercial and/or agriculture loans.
  • Knowledge of banking systems, particularly Fiserv systems and Abrigo a plus.
  • Familiarity with financial products and services.
