Role Summary

The Dock Master serves as the central hub of the warehouse and delivery operation ensuring all inventory, equipment, and personnel flow efficiently in and out of the facility. This role combines leadership, logistics awareness, and hands-on execution to ensure every truck departs safely, accurately, and on time.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and Inventory Coordinator, the Dock Master enforces warehouse discipline, safety, and presentation standards that uphold the Kate Ryan brand from warehouse to event site.

Core Responsibilities


1. Loading Dock Leadership & Daily Operations


  • Lead all truck loading and unloading activities, ensuring accuracy against pull sheets and Goodshuffle fulfillment lists.
  • Supervise and support all drivers, and event specialists during staging and dispatch.
  • Coordinate with the Inventory Coordinator and Washroom Lead to ensure inventory is prepped, labeled, and in proper staging zones before loading.
  • Maintain dock cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout the day clear and swept walkways and floors, stored tools, and well-marked staging areas.
  • Conduct final pre-departure inspections (secured items, checklists complete, truck floors swept and supplied).

2. Scheduling & Coordination


  • Partner with the Operations Manager and Logistics Coordinator to plan daily and weekly truck schedules, staging order, and team assignments.
  • Monitor order readiness and communicate proactively with Operations when load-out timelines are at risk.
  • Adjust dock workflow dynamically to accommodate last-minute changes, same-day deliveries, or high-volume weekends.

3. Quality Control & Accountability


  • The Dock Master is accountable for implementing a double-check system to verify the accuracy of all outgoing loads before they depart the dock.
  • Review Goodshuffle notes and verify special instructions or items requiring extra protection.
  • Document and report damages, shortages, or inconsistencies immediately to the Operations Manager and Inventory Coordinator.
  • Track recurring operational or product issues and propose process improvements to leadership. Note: While this is a shared responsibility with the Inventory Coordinator, the Dock Master holds final accountability.
