Job description

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Dispatch all loads thoroughly to drivers to ensure that all vital in information is passed onto the driver to increase the satisfaction of our customers.
  • Trace all shipments being transported by drivers.
  • Manage the performance and time-off of all drivers in fleet.
  • Manage all compliance issues with drivers.
  • Issue purchase orders to reimburse drivers for out-of-pocket road expenses.
  • Route and track drivers to ensure that D.O.T. requirements and fuel stop requirements are met.
  • Satisfy the mileage expectations of the drivers and the company by working closely with load planners and monitoring driver down time.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in a business-related or communication field preferred.
  • Previous dispatch work experience in the trucking industry may be substituted for education.
  • Excellent phone and communication skills a must.
  • Must be detail-oriented and good with following up on unfinished tasks.
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Basic personal computer or host terminal skills required.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office products required.
  • Experience with AS400 and other dispatch software a plus.
