Job Description

Role: Loader / Operator

Job Summary: Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, the Loader / Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of raw materials and finished products. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, particularly in forklift operation, and the ability to work from a pick list to locate and move materials accurately.

Compensation: $21.87/hr

Job Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a sit-down forklift with a valid certification.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Communicate with drivers to ensure accurate and safe loading/unloading.
  • Use pick lists to locate materials in the yard or warehouse.
  • Identify product locations using signage and apply FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
  • Direct truck drivers to appropriate loading/unloading areas.
  • Support other shipping and scale house duties as needed.
  • Understand and follow railcar unloading procedures, Trackmobile operation, and railroad safety.
  • Adhere to all IKO safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Required: Able to work flexible, production shifts 8/10/12 hours
  • Minimum 1 year of proven forklift operating experience preferred
  • Comfortable with working in a dusty environment
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Fluent in verbal and written English
  • Ability to follow direction and specific instructions
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to pass forklift certification class and test.
  • Able to read and interpret pick lists.
  • Willing to work overtime, including weekends.
  • Must pass a fit-for-duty physical.
  • Capable of lifting up to 76 lbs unassisted.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
