Job description

PARR is the total source for homebuilding supplies, solutions, and services. We focus on supplying building materials and solutions to professional home builders of all sizes including custom builders, large production builders, and multifamily builders. Pay: $19.97 - $24.23
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Location: Pasco, Washington
The Load Checker safely and efficiently performs the "checking of loads" for all orders, including both deliveries and large will call orders. Seeks out 100% accuracy of properly tagged orders that have the correct type and size of material, quantity of products, proper sequence of materials in load, (i.e. pressure treated on top, not bottom of underfloor load, sheeting on bottom, not top of framing load), along with goods being sellable and damage free.
This position is essential in larger yards to help ensure that all loads are "on time and in full." To find errors of any kind while the trucks are in the yard saves countless hours of fixing problems and plays a large role in fulfilling PARR's mission of Legendary Service Through Teamwork.
This position reports directly to the General Manager and interacts daily with Load Builders, Receiving Coordinators, Location Supervisor, Customer Service Employees, and Drivers.

Qualifications

  • OSHA Certified Forklift license(training provided)
  • Minimum of 1 year of load building experiencepreferred
  • Ability to speak, write, and read Englishrequired
  • Knowledge of how loads need to be properly labeled, protected, and kept damage free
  • Ability to tally correct lineal footage totals on orders
  • Ability to read and interpret "picking tickets" and invoices
  • Ability to load and unload materials in a safe manner
  • Must be able to operate forklift, banding machine, tin snips, tape measure, power saws, hand truck, pallet jack, re-fueling stations, and all other equipment necessary for the job
  • Ability to utilize all appropriate safety gear required for this position
  • Must be able to operate personal computer, smartphone, scanner, and all other equipment necessary for the job
  • Two years of load building and/or yard/warehouse experiencepreferred
  • Two years of experience working with dimensional lumber, panel products, and other building materialspreferred
  • Knowledge of receiving and inventory control principles, practices, and protocolspreferred
  • Ability to read grades of lumber and other materialspreferred
  • Acceptable driving recordpreferred

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure loads are built safely and accurately by correctly reading "pick tickets" and invoices
  • Help identify damaged material
  • Ensure that appropriate paper work is complete & scanned as per company policy
  • Maintain yard cleanliness during course of work
  • When mistakes are made, follow through with team to make system corrections as needed
  • Perform daily safety audit of forklift and promptly reports any malfunctioning equipment
  • Assist with prevention of material damage
  • Identify areas of opportunity for best practices pertaining to handling of products, along with packaging for adverse weather conditions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

This position works outside in the lumberyard in all weather conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 90 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle when necessary
