Job Overview

The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for leading all aspects of the Nikkiso Cryogenic Services (NCS) workshop operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable execution of equipment repairs, overhauls, inspections, testing, and refurbishment activities. This position is accountable for delivering world-class aftermarket support for cryogenic pumps and turboexpander related equipment supporting the LNG, industrial gas, hydrogen, air separation, petrochemical, and clean energy markets.

The Workshop Supervisor leads a multidisciplinary team of technician personnel while driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and continuous improvement. This role partners closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Field Service, Sales, Quality, and Global SHEQ to deliver exceptional customer experiences and support NCS's strategic growth objectives.

Work Environment

  • Provide leadership and direction for all workshop service operations.

  • Ensure repair, overhaul, inspection, testing, and refurbishment activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with NCS quality standards.
  • Manage workshop scheduling, capacity planning, and labor utilization.
  • Optimize workflow to maximize throughput while maintaining superior workmanship.
  • Support global service initiatives and standardization.

Customer Experience

  • Serve as the operational leader for workshop service execution.
  • Partner with Sales and Repair Coordinators/Project Managers to ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
  • Maintain frequent communication regarding repair status, schedules, technical issues, and delivery commitments.
  • Resolve customer concerns quickly while maintaining long-term customer relationships.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Champion NCS's safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all NCS Global SHEQ policies, OSHA regulations, ISO standards, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety observations, toolbox talks, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all workshop equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and certified.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions resulting from quality or safety findings.

Financial Performance

  • Manage workshop budgets and departmental operating expenses.
  • Drive profitability through labor efficiency, cost control, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor workshop KPIs including:
    • Revenue
    • Gross Margin
    • Labor Utilization
    • Productivity
    • On-Time Delivery
    • Cycle Time
    • Rework
    • Safety Performance
    • Support forecasting and annual operating plans.

People Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing technical professionals.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide operational oversight for servicing:
    • Cryogenic centrifugal pumps
    • Positive displacement pumps
    • Turboexpanders
    • Industrial gas equipment
    • Ensure all work complies with OEM engineering standards and documented repair procedures.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Improve workshop throughput and turnaround time.
  • Reduce waste and non-value-added activities.
  • Standardize repair procedures across workshop operations.
Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent technical experience will be considered. Degree in technical discipline preferred.
  • 8+ years of industrial service or rotating equipment experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a workshop, manufacturing, or service environment.
  • Experience supporting cryogenic equipment, LNG, hydrogen, industrial gas, or rotating equipment preferred.
  • Strong background in aftermarket service operations.

Physical Demands

  • Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, type, and write.
  • Reach with hands and arms, bend, stand on a stool or climb, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Use standard office equipment such as computers, smart phones, printers, photocopiers, etc.
