Llm Researcher information

What is an LLM researcher?

An LLM Researcher is a specialist who studies and develops large language models (LLMs), such as GPT. Their work involves improving model architectures, training methods, and fine-tuning techniques to enhance performance and efficiency. They often analyze LLM behavior, mitigate biases, and optimize models for specific applications. This role requires expertise in machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and deep learning frameworks.

What does an LLM researcher do?

A typical workday for an LLM Researcher involves designing experiments, training and fine-tuning large language models, and analyzing model outputs using various evaluation metrics. You will often read and discuss recent research papers, collaborate with software engineers and data scientists, and present findings to your team or at industry meetings. The role may also involve publishing research, contributing to open-source projects, or mentoring junior researchers. This collaborative and fast-paced environment offers ample opportunities to push the boundaries of AI language technology while working alongside leading experts in the field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an LLM researcher?

To thrive as an LLM Researcher, a strong background in machine learning, natural language processing, and computational linguistics is essential, often backed by an advanced degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, experience training and evaluating large-scale language models, and publication experience in relevant conferences or journals are highly valued. Analytical thinking, creativity, effective communication, and collaboration are key soft skills that distinguish top performers. These capabilities are crucial for developing innovative language model solutions, advancing research, and contributing to high-impact projects within interdisciplinary teams.

Job description

Web Researcher - 8-week paid contract, remote (US)

8 weeks, full-time, remote. 40 hours/week with ~$20/hour. ~ around $6,400 for the full contract.

What you'll actually do:

Work with a frontier AI model - you'll help train it, test it, and make it smarter.

Think prompt engineering meets research: you talk to the AI, find where it gets stuck, and help fix that. No coding needed.

You're a fit if you:

  • Have 3+ years of research experience - you've dug through government databases, archives, registries, court records, PDFs
  • Cite the exact page, table, or section
  • Can pick up a topic you know nothing about and get to the bottom of it
  • Write clear, native-level English
  • Don't mind heavy documentation - the evidence trail is most of the work

Backgrounds we're looking for: reference librarians and archivists, investigative journalists and fact-checkers, OSINT / due diligence / KYC researchers, patent and legal-discovery searchers, genealogists, trivia and puzzle-hunt writers.

Bonus points: experience with LLM evaluation or red-teaming, comfort with JSON.

The details:

  • Contract, pay per task - no benefits or paid leave
  • 40 hours a week, with at least 4 hours overlapping Pacific time
  • 8 weeks, starting ASAP
  • Hiring process: quick intro call → short assessment (Google Form) → review.

Sounds like you? Apply - it takes two minutes.
