Remote Llm Researcher information

What is a remote LLM researcher?

A Remote LLM Researcher is a professional who studies and develops large language models (LLMs), such as GPT or BERT, while working from a location outside of a traditional office setting. Their work typically involves conducting experiments, analyzing data, improving model architectures, and publishing findings in the field of natural language processing (NLP). Remote LLM Researchers often collaborate with colleagues online, use cloud-based computing resources, and contribute to advancements in AI language technologies. This role requires strong programming skills, a background in machine learning, and the ability to work independently in a distributed team environment.

How do remote LLM researchers typically collaborate with cross-functional teams given their distributed work environment?

Remote LLM Researchers often work closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and product managers via virtual collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and GitHub. Regular meetings, shared documentation, and project management platforms help maintain clear communication and alignment on research goals. Being proactive in sharing updates, seeking feedback, and participating in code reviews is essential for seamless teamwork. This collaborative approach ensures research findings can be effectively integrated into products and services, despite the physical distance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote LLM researcher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote LLM Researcher, you need a strong background in machine learning, natural language processing, and deep learning, typically supported by an advanced degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, experience working with large language models (LLMs), and knowledge of distributed computing tools are commonly required. Outstanding problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the ability to work independently are essential soft skills for remote collaboration and research innovation. These skills enable effective development, evaluation, and deployment of advanced language models in a distributed team environment.

What is the difference between Remote Llm Researcher vs Remote Data Scientist?

AspectRemote Llm ResearcherRemote Data Scientist
CredentialsAdvanced degrees in AI, NLP, or related fields; research experienceDegree in Data Science, Statistics, or Computer Science; often includes certifications
Work EnvironmentResearch-focused, often in AI labs or tech companies, remote options availableData analysis, modeling, and visualization tasks, remote or on-site
Industry UsageAI research, NLP development, machine learning innovationBusiness analytics, predictive modeling, data-driven decision making

Remote Llm Researchers focus on developing and improving large language models through research and experimentation, often in AI labs. Remote Data Scientists analyze data to generate insights and build predictive models. While both roles require strong technical skills, Remote Llm Researchers are more research-oriented, whereas Remote Data Scientists focus on applying data techniques to solve business problems.

Job description

Are you passionate about building practical AI solutions that can be used in real business environments?

At Corning, we are looking for an AI Engineer to help build, implement, and support AI-enabled applications, tools, agents, and integrations that support business needs across Corning Optical Communications.
This role is part of our Digital & IT organization and is focused on applying AI through hands-on software engineering, Python development, APIs, LLM-enabled solutions, workflow automation, and enterprise integrations. This is not a pure research or model-training role. We are looking for someone who is curious, hands-on, coachable, and excited to grow in enterprise AI engineering.

What will you do?

-  Build, test, implement, and support AI-enabled applications, tools, agents, automations, and integrations.
-  Develop Python-based solutions and work with APIs, JSON payloads, model integrations, and LLM-enabled workflows.
-  Support CorningGPT integrations, AI assistant tools, chatbot-style workflows, and internal AI capabilities.
-  Assist with MCP development, Databricks workflows, and Databricks Genie Spaces use cases.
-  Partner with technical team members and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into working solutions.
-  Help create user-friendly applications and interfaces for AI agents and tools.
Perform testing, debugging, documentation, troubleshooting, and post-deployment support.
-  Contribute to continuous improvement by helping create reusable patterns, cleaner documentation, and more maintainable solutions.

What do you need to have?

-  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
-  1–3 years of relevant experience in software engineering, AI engineering, application development, automation, integration development, or related technical solution delivery.
-  Hands-on experience with Python.
-  Familiarity working with APIs, JSON payloads, structured data, integrations, or application logic.
-  Familiarity with LLM-based applications, chatbots, AI-assisted workflows, or generative AI tools.
-  Experience building applications, automations, internal tools, scripts, integrations, or technical projects.
-  Basic understanding of software development fundamentals such as debugging, testing, version control, documentation, and maintainable coding practices.
-  Ability to learn quickly and work with guidance from senior technical team members.
-  Strong communication and collaboration skills.
-  Advanced English communication skills.

What should we offer?

-  Opportunity to join a growing AI engineering team focused on practical enterprise AI solutions.
-  Exposure to modern AI technologies, LLM applications, agents, automation, chatbot/RAG solutions, and enterprise integrations.
-  A hybrid role based in Obispado, Monterrey, with most work expected to be remote and office presence as needed.
-  Opportunity to learn from senior engineers and grow into more advanced AI engineering responsibilities.
-  Career growth in AI engineering, application development, enterprise integrations, and AI platform enablement.
