Are you an experienced client developer with a passion and proven track record for business development and the drive to support the ongoing success of S&ME's environmental, geotechnical, and construction materials testing teams in Tennessee and Alabama as a Senior Client Developer?

About the Role:

As a Senior Client Developer, you will assist in leading S&ME's business development initiatives and collaborate with Project Management, Communications, and Marketing teams to establish new client relationships and strengthen existing relationships. You will help develop strategies that help us continue to grow and excel in supporting client success.

  • Strategy: Partner with local leadership and staff to identify market trends and potential clients, and develop strategies that help achieve individual and office-wide sales and net revenue goals. Identify cross-region clients and develop strategies for developing clients at the regional level.
  • Business Development: Represent S&ME in the local markets in ways that enhance existing client relationships, win new clients, and increase S&ME's profile in the local markets. Maintain active involvement in professional associations for networking and growth.
  • Marketing: Coordinate marketing activities and sponsorship opportunities, and help organize local events and social media campaigns.
  • Proposals / Requests for Qualifications: Assist in developing letters of interest, proposals, responses to RFQs, and interview presentations.
  • Train: Help project managers and other staff strengthen their business development skills.
  • Lead: Participate in and lead regular Business Development meetings to ensure ongoing and effective implementation of the strategy.

Competitive applicants will have a proven track record of success in researching, prospecting, and scheduling face-to-face meetings with key decision-makers and influencers and can point to specific business outcomes resulting from their activities. Current involvement and visibility in professional organizations, industry associations, civic groups, and/or local associations for economic and business growth is a plus.


About you:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, construction, business, or a related field
  • You have a minimum of 8 years of technical and/or business development experience within the Commercial Real Estate, Architecture, Construction, and Engineering industries (candidates with significantly more years' experience encouraged to apply)
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You have existing relationships with various A/E/C industry Designers, Contractors, and Owners
  • You are willing and able to travel, using personal vehicles for use during company business, which may sometimes occur during evenings and on weekends
  • You're able to increase sales opportunities for S&ME, achieve a sales target, and contribute to profitable growth across Tennessee and Alabama
