Job Description
San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Student Worker, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year.
The duties of a Student Worker may include clerical, manual, or analytical tasks but not limited to:
  • Administrative Support:
    • Filing, copying, scanning documents.
    • Data entry and maintaining databases.
    • Answering phones and directing inquiries.
  • Customer Service:
    • Assisting students, faculty, and visitors.
    • Providing information about college services, events, and policies.
  • Campus Support:
    • Assisting with campus events and activities.
    • Setting up and cleaning up after events.
    • Distributing campus flyers or posters.
  • Technical Support:
    • Basic troubleshooting
    • Assisting with staff and students on trouble shooting.
  • Research Assistance:
    • Helping staff with research projects.
    • Gathering and organizing research materials.
  • Special Projects:
    • Assisting with special projects assigned by department.
  • Other Duties:
    • Other tasks assigned by department on a as-needed basis.
Duties can vary by department needs. This position is a temporary hourly position and the assignment may end at any time.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently, accurately, and to problem solve technical and methodological issues that arise during the research.
  • Ability to learn new software and research techniques as needed.
  • Subject knowledge and oral/written communication skills to discuss and document research progress.
  • Ability to apply sound research techniques, methodology and logical critical analysis.
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills.

Employment Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • Student must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.
  • Must complete a TB test at time of employment.
  • Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting as needed. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate.
  • General flexible hours not to exceed 20 hours per week
  • The person selected for hire will be required to complete the following pre-employment requirements:
    • Submit to and successfully pass DOJ live scan/fingerprinting. Cost of live-scan services to be borne by candidate.
    • Sealed official transcript(s) in envelope from institution or electronic copies emailed directly from institution (for positions with higher education requirement)
    • Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment
    • Other pre-employment requirements may be required depending on the position (i.e. certifications or licenses; see job posting qualifications section for details).
  • Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements is mandatory to be eligible for employment. These requirements are in accordance with the San Bernardino Community College District's Administrative
