To thrive in a live-in property caretaker or house-sitter role, you typically need basic property maintenance skills, reliability, and often a background check or references to demonstrate trustworthiness. Familiarity with tools for minor repairs, home security systems, and sometimes pet or garden care is helpful. Strong communication, discretion, and proactive problem-solving are essential soft skills for managing responsibilities and tenant-owner relationships.
