Job description

McKinney Direct Care Services, LLC is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, detailed, and caring Live-In Caregiver to provide support and supervision for up to four (4) clients in our group homes. Caregivers play a crucial role in providing individualized care that suits the needs of each client in the comfort of our group homes. We're a close-knit team of dedicated professionals focused on empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. We take a person-centered approach to helping the individuals we serve lead fulfilling, independent lives, and we’re looking for compassionate, driven, experienced Caregivers to help make this mission a reality. (a 24-hour live-in arrangement) THIS IS NOT A SHIFT POSITION.

Responsibilities

  • Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and meals according to the individual service plan.
  • Allow and encourage residents to do as much of their own care as possible.
  • Immediately report abuse, neglect, and exploitation suspicions and acts immediately.
  • Ensure homes and clients are clean and presentable at all times. Perform light housekeeping responsibilities, including cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
  • Keep products stocked, safety markers checked and in compliance with OSHA and HHS protocols. Review client security protocols daily and follow safety procedures for clients. (ex: logbook, visitor procedures, medication checks, etc.)
  • Record patient information by making entries in the online patient journal for SDL’s, MAR’s, and incident reports. Notify the nursing supervisor and case manager of changing or unusual conditions.
  • Brief Outs: Communicate staff and client changes and updates on the home boards and directly to incoming staff to ensure an informative and smooth transition between shifts.
  • Monitor and ensure that fire drills are done monthly and that fire safety protocols are followed. (ex: test smoke alarms monthly, fire exits marked clearly, review fire escape plans & meeting place with clients, have fire extinguishers, etc.)
  • Manage allocated budgets for food and supplies and keep inventory of stock.
  • Meet weekly or as required by your RD and provide reports on the homes and clients to keep all parties informed of client activities, home repairs, etc.
  • Complete daily SDL’s, MAR’s, incident reports, etc on the computer.
  • Plan, execute, and report to RD monthly client outings and social activities.
  • This is not an all inclusive list of responsibilities. Responsibilities extend to all other duties as needed and assigned.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND INFORMATION

  • Body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, walk and walk briskly in order to interact with and monitor clients.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 60 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability to give and receive verbal and written instructions (with or without hearing aids).
  • Must have fine vision, sustained vision, and peripheral vision (with or without glasses).
  • The environment requires dexterity to remain calm and adapt to fast paced and emotional environments consisting of clients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and emotional needs.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Initiative with problem solving skills.
