What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Live-In Temporary Caregiver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Live-In Temporary Caregiver, you need experience in personal care, basic household management, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with care documentation tools and, in some cases, CPR or first aid certification is beneficial. Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills help build trust with clients and adapt to changing needs. These skills ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of those under your care during temporary assignments.

What are some common challenges faced by live-in temporary employees, and how can they be managed?

Live-in temporary employees often face challenges related to adapting quickly to new household environments, building trust with hosts, and maintaining boundaries between work and personal life. To manage these, it's important to communicate expectations clearly with employers, establish a daily routine, and set aside personal time when possible. Flexibility and strong interpersonal skills are key to successfully navigating different household dynamics and ensuring a positive experience for both parties.

What are live-in temporary workers?

Live-in temporary workers are individuals who reside at their employer's home or provided accommodation for a short-term period to provide services such as caregiving, housekeeping, or childcare. These positions are typically filled when families or employers need immediate, short-term assistance due to circumstances like illness, travel, or a regular caregiver’s absence. The arrangement usually includes room and board, and the duration can range from a few days to several weeks. Live-in temporary workers are expected to be available for work as needed during their stay, with specific duties outlined by the employer.

Job description

Overview

LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY! GREENWICH, CT - SUMMER 2026: A warm, active, and welcoming family is seeking a FULL-TIME SUMMER NANNY from June 1st through mid-August to help care for their three children, ages 5, 8, and 10. This is a wonderful opportunity for a calm, confident, and emotionally grounded caregiver who enjoys engaging school-aged children through curiosity, creativity, structure, and outdoor fun while becoming a supportive and steady presence within the home.

The children are outgoing, bright, and inquisitive, and the family is seeking a nanny who is patient, safety-conscious, emotionally intuitive, and able to command respect while remaining warm, approachable, and genuinely engaging. Experience working with children with differing needs and/or an occupational therapy background is highly valued. The ideal candidate is someone who can maintain healthy boundaries, stay calm under pressure, and foster a respectful and structured environment while still bringing warmth, fun, and flexibility to each day.

The schedule will generally be Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM-8:00 PM, with the opportunity for additional weekend hours for candidates interested in working more. Travel may be required from time to time, and a car will be provided for all work-related transportation.

The household also includes two friendly King Charles Cavaliers who love attention and cuddling, so comfort around dogs is essential. The family is looking for a nanny who is highly present and attentive with the children; someone naturally engaging, interactive, and not distracted by their phone while on duty. The ideal fit is adaptable, steady, mature, and genuinely enjoys building relationships with children while helping the home run smoothly throughout the summer months.

While the family is open to discussing a live-in arrangement if needed, their strong preference is for a live-out nanny given the temporary nature of the role. Compensation is anticipated at $30-40/hr gross per hour via payroll, depending on experience and overall fit.
