POSITION SUMMARY

The Advising and Coaching position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with US Universities and API Student Participants to increase enrollments in API's experiential learning programs. This position is responsible for providing advising and coaching for staff onsite at our partner Universities and provide direct-to-student support with the API Application and Enrollment processes, Visa preparations, and all necessary items required prior to student departure. The position fosters strong relationships with University Members as well as individual student participants, with the goal of increasing student enrollment in API programs within an assigned region as well.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a robust portfolio of students in core and customized API programs (study, intern, virtual, domestic, faculty led) throughout the enrollment cycle. (scope may change from time to time).
  • Maintain timely/consistent communications with students via multiple channels including tickets, emails, chat, and calls.
  • Conduct campus advising and coaching visits (both in-person and virtual) during peak and off-peak recruiting seasons (up to 75% travel) to work directly with prospective students, and other campus entities to provide advising and coaching as needed.
  • Actively attend, represent, and engage students/faculty etc. at study abroad fairs.
  • Routinely source, schedule, host and represent API at information tables and sessions.
  • Collaborate with the API Advising and Coaching team across various departments to ensure students complete all required documentation necessary up to and including students' departure period.
  • Maintain accurate student and university records (in CRM system) to include scheduling and documenting activities, maintaining notes for interactions, and providing accurate information to other API divisions in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the Member Services team to participate in the annual recruitment schedule and strategy (Study abroad fairs, on campus visits, conferences, virtual advising, webinars, sessions etc.).
  • Work with host universities and onsite teams to get students enrolled for their programs (CORE Study Programs)
  • Maintain accurate and truthful expense reporting within the guidelines of API's reimbursement policy (i.e. per diem for travel).
  • Will cross train with other departments to master the chat and incoming calls (will be responsible for routine shifts on chat/phone answering/ticketing system).
  • Special projects and other tasks as needed or assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Excels in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, university faculty and staff. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide and master professional presentations for small and large groups of people. 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, while meeting established deadlines.
  • Passion for studying abroad (and/or international travel). 
  • Must have valid driver's license and a personal mode of transportation to travel to and from various work locations (i.e. University Partners etc.). 
  • Ability to independently work from your home office when not traveling (remote work is not permitted. I.e. Traveling to the UK to visit family). 
  • Will be required to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend travel when needed, along with the ability to travel to multiple campuses within your assigned region (and occasional trips outside of assigned region).

KEY EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in a related fi eld (i.e. Business, International Education, Sales etc.). 
  • 1-3 years of previous work experience in international education/study abroad or higher education preferred. 
  • Experience studying, interning, volunteering, or working abroad with API programs preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM preferred.
