Job description

Schedule:ย Week 1: Mon/Tue/Fri/Sat 2p-10:30p. Week 2: Sun/Mon/Tue 2p-10:30p.ย  ย ย 

We'reย seeking a Patient Access Representative to support a smooth,ย accurate, and welcoming experience for patients and visitors. This role plays a keyย roleย in patient admission, registration, insurance verification, and scheduling, ensuring every interaction is efficient and compliant with financial and insurance requirements.ย 
This position will go through initial training on-site at Meriter hospital, but will then work primarily remotely. The person in this role may get called in at any time based on department need, so will need to live in the Greater Madison area.ย 
Key Responsibilities & Skills:ย 

  • Accurately collect, analyze, and record demographic, insurance, financial, and clinical data in the system, ensuring all required documentation is completeย 

  • Maintain strong knowledge of insurance plans and verification processesย 

  • Answer and route phone calls professionally; takeย accurateย messagesย 

  • Educate patients on financial obligations, includingย point of service (POS)ย collections and estimatesย 

  • Assistย with patientย self-serviceย registrationย processesย service registrationย processes.ย serviceย registration processes.ย 

  • Monitor and manage multiple work queues to ensureย timelyย workflowย 

  • Refer patients who need financialย assistanceย with their clinic/hospital bills to a Financial Advocateย ย 

  • Scheduleย walk in procedures and collaborate with central schedulingย regardingย other needsย
