Job description

About Plug

Plug is one of the fastest-growing ecommerce companies in St. Louis, backed by multiple Fortune 500 partners. We sell certified pre-owned smartphones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, and accessories: a smarter, more affordable, and more sustainable alternative to buying new.

With 8M+ followers across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, we have built one of the largest and most engaged communities in tech. New York Times Wirecutter Best Experience. Responsible Recycler certified. Over one million pounds of e-waste diverted. We are not just a brand. We are a movement, and we are just getting started.

How We Work

Plug runs on ownership. We move fast, expect a lot, and give people the autonomy to match. No politics. No hand-holding. No ambiguity about what winning looks like. Every person here operates with a founder mindset: clear on the goal, accountable for the outcome, proud of the work.

If you want a front-row seat to building something that matters, this is the place. If you want a job where someone tells you exactly what to do every day, this isn’t it.

The Role

Be the face, and the closer, of Plug Live. Plug is hiring a Live Commerce Sales Host to turn live shopping into a major sales channel for one of America’s fastest-moving Certified Pre-Owned electronics brands.

This is not a traditional social media position, and it is not a conventional auctioneer role. You will sell live on camera, demonstrating products, answering customer questions, handling objections, creating excitement, and confidently asking for the sale in real time. You will also help build the formats, promotions, community, and operating playbook that make viewers want to return for the next show.

The role sits at the intersection of sales, entertainment, and marketing, but the scoreboard is sales.

You may already be a livestream seller, retail closer, creator, performer, emcee, brand ambassador, or salesperson who comes alive in front of an audience. A large social following is not required. We care more about your presence, sales instincts, product accuracy, reliability, and ability to improve with coaching.

This is a fixed Evening Shift role, 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM, including scheduled weekend broadcasts.

What You Will Own

Host and sell live

  • Host energetic live shopping and auction broadcasts on platforms such as Whatnot, TikTok Shop, and other emerging live-commerce channels.
  • Present Certified Pre-Owned phones, tablets, laptops, smartwatches, audio products, and accessories in a fast, engaging, and easy-to-understand way.
  • Explain model differences, storage, carrier compatibility, cosmetic condition, battery expectations, warranty coverage, returns, and the value of buying Certified Pre-Owned.
  • Follow the live chat, recognize returning customers, answer questions, handle objections, and adjust your approach based on audience response.
  • Create honest urgency through limited quantities, timed offers, bundles, giveaways, and auction mechanics without misrepresenting scarcity, pricing, or product condition.
  • Maintain strong energy, accuracy, and professionalism during scheduled multi-hour broadcasts, with planned breaks and host support.
  • Confidently close sales while protecting Plug’s margins, policies, and customer trust.

Build an audience and a repeatable channel

  • Help create Plug’s live-sales playbook, including show formats, openings, transitions, product sequencing, demonstrations, offers, bundles, closing language, and audience-engagement tactics.
  • Develop a recognizable, trustworthy on-camera personality that reflects Plug’s voice and values.
  • Turn first-time viewers into followers, buyers, and repeat customers.
  • Promote upcoming broadcasts and help identify memorable live moments that can become short-form content.
  • Test new broadcast times, themes, products, bundles, and promotional concepts.
  • Learn from audience feedback and performance data to make each show stronger than the last.

Prepare and operate professionally

  • Partner with merchandising, inventory, marketing, operations, fulfillment, and customer support to prepare every show.
  • Learn featured products before going live and verify all prices, quantities, offers, product facts, and margin guardrails.
  • Follow a clear run of show while staying comfortable improvising when the audience or sales opportunity changes.
  • Keep products, staging materials, and the studio organized and presentation-ready.
  • Support basic streaming workflows involving mobile commerce applications, cameras, lighting, microphones, and show-control tools.
  • Document unusual promotions, customer commitments, or product issues so fulfillment and support teams receive a clean handoff.
  • Represent warranties, returns, shipping expectations, and product condition accurately.

Own the numbers

  • Track net sales, gross profit, units sold, revenue per live hour, conversion, average order value, new buyers, repeat buyers, followers, watch time, and engagement.
  • Review show performance and identify which products, offers, segments, and selling approaches drove results.
  • Use data and coaching to improve pacing, conversion, contribution margin, buyer quality, and audience retention.
  • Balance revenue growth with low cancellation, return, complaint, and policy-violation rates.

What We Are Looking For

  • You are naturally energetic, persuasive, competitive, and comfortable being the center of attention.
  • You can engage an audience while monitoring chat, bids, timing, product details, and direction from the team.
  • You have strong sales instincts and know how to discover customer needs, handle objections, create urgency, and ask for the sale.
  • You communicate clearly and can simplify technical details without exaggerating or making unsupported claims.
  • You think quickly and remain composed when a show changes in real time.
  • You are highly coachable and motivated by measurable goals.
  • You are dependable enough to become a recurring face of a scheduled Plug sales channel.
  • You can stand, present, and maintain vocal energy for extended periods with scheduled breaks.
  • You are available to work a fixed Evening Shift, 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM, including scheduled weekend broadcasts.
  • You are willing to learn consumer electronics, Plug policies, live-commerce platforms, and basic studio tools.

Experience that can translate well

  • We welcome candidates from different backgrounds. Relevant experience may include:
  • Live selling on Whatnot, TikTok Shop, Amazon Live, Instagram Live, YouTube, or another marketplace
  • Performance-based sales in wireless, electronics, retail, automotive, furniture, fitness, events, or a similar field
  • Auctioneering, radio, podcasting, sports announcing, theater, improv, stand-up, emceeing, or brand ambassador work
  • Content creation or a demonstrated ability to hold an audience on camera
  • Consumer-electronics sales or product knowledge
  • A record of exceeding sales, conversion, audience-growth, or revenue goals
  • A degree and a large follower count are not required. On-camera presence, sales ability, integrity, preparation, and coachability matter more.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $50,000 to $60,000, depending on relevant experience and demonstrated ability
  • Performance incentives: Target opportunity of $15,000 to $25,000 annually
  • Expected total compensation: $65,000 to $85,000 at target performance

Equal Opportunity

Plug is committed to building a workplace where people can do their best work. Employment decisions are based on business needs, role requirements, and individual qualifications. Plug does not discriminate on the basis of any status protected by applicable law.
