Research Nurse In The Drug Development Unit

As a Research Nurse in the Drug Development Unit your primary responsibility is to screen, enroll and follow study subjects ensuring protocol compliance and close monitoring while the subjects are on study.

  1. Support enrolling patients onto clinical trials through recruitment, screening, enrollment and follow up of eligible subjects according to protocol requirements
  2. Ensure the protection of study patients by timely adherence to protocol requirements and compliance
  3. Use the protocol as the only tool to screen, treat, and follow patients
  4. Review the study design and inclusion and exclusion criteria with physician and patient
  5. Complete and document screening and eligibility accurately
  6. Complete and document the informed consent process accurately and have all parties fully execute the document including HIPAA Authorization
  7. Complete the inclusion and exclusion form and standard enrollment form
  8. Accurately complete and submit the on-study forms within two weeks of enrollment for investigator-initiated protocols
  9. Ensure that patient documentation is completed at each clinic visit while in screening
  10. Ensure that all medications are approved by the registrar prior to initiating treatment or when changing medication regimens, such as crossover studies
  11. Accurately calculate and documents the BSA, creatinine clearance, urine protein:creatinine ratio or any other conversions needed per protocol
  12. Ensure that follow-up appointments, scans, or any related procedures are scheduled correctly according to protocol requirements
  13. Inform and document appropriate SCRI and clinic personnel when patient comes off study

You should have for this position:

  • An Associate Degree; preferably a Bachelor's Degree
  • RN License
  • Knowledge of medical and research terminology
  • Knowledge of FDA Code of Federal Regulations and GCP
  • Knowledge of the clinical research processes
  • At least one year of oncology experience preferred
  • At least one year of experience in a research setting preferred
  • Research Certification (ACRP or CCRP) Preferred
