The team also sees high acuity surgical patients from Endoscopy, General surgery and GI. Average patient stay is 1 to 2 days. The RN staff can expect a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio and can expect an average of 6 to 8 patient discharges per shift. It is a well-staffed, fast-paced environment that values ongoing staff development through a comprehensive orientation program, where managers and educators meet biweekly to refine learning strategies and enhance clinical skills. This makes 1 East Surgery an excellent environment for both experienced Registered Nurses and new graduates eager to build their expertise. The team is supported by Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) who assist with ambulation, labs, and other patient care tasks, ensuring seamless patient support.
