Job description

Essential Functions of the Director of Assisted Living

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct all assisted living programs.
  • Oversees coordination of outside nursing services as needed.
  • Maintain job descriptions for all assisted living staff.
  • Develops the assisted living budget, in conjunction with the Executive Director, to be submitted as appropriate for review, recommendation, and/or approval.
  • Assures that departments are functioning within budgetary limitations.
  • Meets with appropriate personnel regularly to review and update, on budget spending.
  • Oversees safety program, OSHA compliance.
  • Oversees case management in conjunction with licensed personnel.
  • Coordinates with Wellness Director and discharge planners in hospitals and nursing care facilities to ensure the residentsโ€™ safe and timely return.
  • Maintains close contact with residents and families during hospitalizations, rehab stays, and acts as an advocate for the residents.
  • Develops, assesses, evaluates, implements, etc., individual resident care plans with resident participation.
  • Manages pharmaceutical services communications and participates in obtaining refills or new prescriptions to ensure accurate medication administration.
  • Conducts periodic cart audits, manages the adherence to written policies, and procedures for the administration, storage, disposal and control of medications.
  • Participates in the admissions and assessment process prior to assisted living move-in.
  • Oversee medication management and timely paperwork filing into existing resident medical records to maintain accuracy.
  • Meets with each resident individually on a regular basis; Assesses ongoing needs of residents and perform reassessments when warranted and scheduled.
  • Manage the staff in the Assisted Living community.
  • Determine the staffing needs for assisted living necessary to ensure safety and care for the residents.
  • Delegate to supervisors the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary to perform their assigned duties.
  • Ensure that professional personnel have valid and current licenses as required by this state.
  • Review of complaints/grievances made or filed by department personnel.
  • Ensures disciplinary action is administered fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, handicap, or marital status.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of timely in-service training classes.
  • Develop, implement and maintain an effective orientation program to orient new employees to the facility, its policies and procedures, job position and duties.
  • Providing opportunities for and encouraging teamwork and leadership training is essential for all licensed personnel.
  • Attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep abreast of changes in the nursing profession as well to maintain licensure status. Attend any training deemed mandatory by the state.
  • Require all licensed staff who are licensed and/or certified to participate in continuing education programs required by the state. Keep accurate records of participation.
  • Maintain adherence to HIPPA.
  • Monitor activities of daily living care and the facility to assure all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect and ensure resident respond in kind to staff.
  • Review/investigate complaints and grievances made by residents and present a written/oral report to the Executive Director and Wellness Director indicating resolutions.
