Architectural Project Designer – Residential Construction

Craig Tuttle Construction – Omaha, NE (In-Office)

Craig Tuttle Construction is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Architectural Project Designer to join our growing residential design team. This role is ideal for an experienced designer who can lead projects from concept through construction documents while collaborating closely with homeowners, project managers, and field teams.

You’ll take ownership of multiple residential projects, balancing creative design, technical drafting, and client communication to deliver high-quality, buildable plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of multiple residential projects from concept through final construction documents
  • Collaborate with clients to develop designs that align with budget, style, and functional goals
  • Prepare detailed construction drawings, including:
    • Demo and framing plans
    • Mechanical, electrical, and structural layouts
    • Interior and exterior elevations
    • Site plans and project details
  • Review drawings and specifications to identify conflicts and ensure code compliance
  • Revise and refine plans based on feedback from clients, team members, and consultants
  • Conduct site visits for measurements, documentation, and client consultations
  • Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and internal team members
  • Maintain organized project files, drawings, and documentation
  • Assist with material take-offs and cost estimation

Additional Responsibilities
  • Support development of design processes, templates, and workflows
  • Help improve project efficiency and reduce design errors
  • Stay current with drafting technologies and residential design best practices

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in residential design, drafting, or construction
  • Proficiency in architectural drafting and construction documentation
  • Experience with Chief Architect (or similar software; training available)
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and Lumion preferred
  • Strong understanding of building codes and construction methods
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with both clients and internal teams
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Design, or related field preferred
  • Portfolio of previous work strongly preferred
